Teaching more than just baseball...

The following is from a fellow coach from one of our U10 games this season.  Little things do matter.  Sportsmanship is more important than winning.  Let's all keep teaching our kids the right way to do things.

Yesterday we faced off against your U10 Chargers team in the Neenah Championship and I wanted to send a quick Thank you for the great sportsmanship your team displayed during the game.  My son was pitching in the 6th and one of your boys hit a shot up the middle that caught my son square in the shin.  He went down hard and could not continue playing.

We tried to get him to get up and participate in the hand shake line at the end, but he could not get up and walk through it.  I was blown away when your team took turns coming into our dugout and shaking is hand.  We all talk about sportsmanship and we like to think we teach it, but that was a true display of great sportsmanship and I was glad to have witnessed it.

In this day and age of youth sports you run into all kinds of craziness.  Witnessing that was a breath of fresh air and something we will use to teach our boys.  Although we came out on the losing end of the game I was glad that our team got to share in the experience of the game and the display of sportsmanship.

Thank You
