The Hamilton Jr Chargers U9 Red team posted a perfect 4-0 record on their way to a tournament crown in the Germantown Warhawks Tournament last weekend. With those 4 victories, the Chargers pushed their overall record to 25-2.

Game 1 of pool play commenced with a 22-2 victory over the Lannon Stonemen. Caleb Ruppel was outstanding on the mound striking out seven and walking none over three shutout innings. Logan Pudlosky was the hitting star with 2 triples and 4 runs batted in. Jackson Weber paced the bases with 4 stolen bases and 3 runs scored.

In Game 2, Sean Moser (3 Innings with 8ks) and Vin Rubens (1 inning and 3ks) combined for a no-hitter enroute to a 11-1 win over Port Washington. Leo Gopalratnam, Logan Pudlosky, Sean Moser, and Caleb Ruppel each had multiple hits.

The Semi-Finals saw a rematch with league foe Menomonee Falls. The Chargers got off to a very sluggish start and found themselves down 10-4 after 1 ½ innings. Regrouping, the U9 Red were able to score 10 runs over the next 3 innings, surviving with a 14-11 victory. A diving catch by Carson Mach in CF and 2 shut down innings by Evan Gilles saved the day. Jackson Weber, Jack Jacoby, Sean Moser and Caleb Ruppel had multiple runs batted in.

The Finals saw a rematch with PTA. At last year’s Germantown Tournament, PTA got the better end by defeating the Chargers in the finals. This year’s game was a back-and-forth affair with high intensity and effort. The Chargers jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to runs batted in by Moser, Jacoby, Gopalratnam (2). PTA would answer back with 6 runs over the next 4 innings to take a 6-4 lead after 4. The top of the fifth saw some clutch hitting with Vin Rubens leading off with a single up the middle, and then two giant hits by Logan Pudlosky (double off the wall with 2 strikes) and Leo Gopalratnam (line drive with 2 strikes to punch in Pudlosky with the tying run). PTA would respond with 2 more in the bottom of the fifth, taking an 8-6 lead into the last frame. The Chargers were able to respond in a big way; leadoff walks by Weber and Mach set the stage for Rubens to double down the right field line to tie the game at 8. Moser singled to left knocking in two more creating a 10-8 lead. The Chargers added two more with clutch RBIs from Jacoby and Bryce Wanner to take a 12-8 lead into the bottom of the 6th. PTA fought back loading the bases with no outs, but Sean Moser struck out the next two leading to the defensive play of the game by Carson Mach (bare handing a slow ground ball at SS and making an athletic throw to get the final out). Bryce Wanner was the winning pitcher after 3 outstanding innings.
