The Hamilton Jr Chargers U9 Red team posted a perfect 4-0 record on their way to a tournament crown at the Muskego Warrior’s Tournament last weekend. In victory, the Chargers improved their overall record to 19-1.

In pool play, the Chargers outscored opponents 25-3, with a 12-2 win against the Whitnall Falcons and a 13-1 run rule over Stiks-Black. The Chargers secured the number one seed after pool play.

In the Whitnall game, Evan Gilles recorded the win, allowing no hits in two innings on the mound, with Carson Mach striking out three in relief. At the plate, Vincent Rubens, Jack Jacoby and Logan Pudlosky had multi-hit games. Rubens and Mach each tallied a double.

Stellar pitching led the way in the Stiks contest. Jacoby pitched two shut out innings to secure the win, allowing no hits and striking out two. Bryce Wanner pitched one inning of relief in the 3.5 inning showdown. Rubens and Sean Moser were both perfect at the plate, each contributing two hits. Rubens added a triple and four RBIs to the stat line, with Moser racking up two RBIs.

In the semi final game Sunday, the Chargers squared off against the Greenfield Hawks, soundly winning by run rule, 9-1, after 4.5 innings of play. Rubens earned the win, pitching three innings and striking out five. Jackson Weber entered in relief, striking out three in two scoreless innings on the mound. At the plate, Caleb Ruppel, Gilles and Wanner took charge, each having a multi-hit day. Ruppel, Gilles and Logan Buhr clubbed their way to doubles, with Wanner blasting a home run.

The championship game against the Muskego Warriors was a well contested, six inning battle. The Chargers held a 7-4 lead entering the last inning, but the Warrior squad wasn’t ready to throw in the towel. After one out, the Warriors singled consecutively and then punched a double into left field. But in true nine-year-old baseball fashion, an overzealous third base coach wanted to stretch that double into a triple and paid the price. Shortstop Ruppel took a relay throw from left fielder Weber and slinged the ball to third baseman Jacoby, tagging out the baserunner just in time. The next batter tripled, but a ground ball to first baseman Pudlosky secured the 7-6 tournament victory.

At the plate in the finals, Rubens led the way with two hits and two RBIs. On the mound, Wanner recorded the win, allowing no earned runs and just three hits in three innings. Jacoby pitched two middle relief innings and Moser closed out the final inning.
