Jr. Charger Coaches Earn 4 WSYBL Sportsmanship awards!
Chuck Emons, Mark Johnson, Steve Komar and Tom Olejnik took home 2014 Sportsmanship awards during the recent coaches meeting for the Wisconsin State Youth Baseball League (WSYBL). Congratulations to our coaches, and all the other coaches from the league who won these awards. The award is voted on by the coaches at each age level after the season, so this is a great recognition to be given by their peers.
Thank You Dave!
Boy, it's taken forever to get this posted...better late than never. We'd like to thank Dave Kotlan for all that he has done for the organization. Dave started the Sussex Hawks organization back in 2001 and served as it's President (and in many other roles/capacities) through the 2014 season. During that time the group has grown from 1 team to 15, changed names from the Sussex Hawks to the Hamilton Jr. Chargers, and seen many many ballplayers pass through to the high school. We wouldn't be here today if not for Dave, and we wanted to show him our appreciation for all he did over the years.
Board meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 8pm (8:30 in June and July) and are held at The Boneyard in the back meeting room. All are welcome to attend. Meeting Minutes are posted in
the blog after the meeting.
Upcoming Meetings: No Meeting in August. Next meeting is Sept. 8th.
Calling all Coaches
Interested in getting involved as a coach? Have prior baseball experience, either playing or as a coach? While many of the head coaching positions are filled at the older age levels we are always looking for incoming U8 coaches and assistants at many levels. If you are interested you can fill out the Coaching Application and submit it to email@example.com or bring it along to Registration Night and talk with one of our board members.
How the Jr. Chargers Structure our Teams
|2nd grade through 4th grade||U8 (2nd grade) through U10 (4th grade) teams get shuffled every year after tryouts. Head coaches would be determined by the board and then the head coaches would draft the players afterwards.|
|5th grade through 8th grade||U11 (5th grade) through U14 (8th grade) teams would be split into A, B and/or C teams as determined by tryouts, previous season performances and Coach/Board evaluations.|
Sussex Hamilton Jr Chargers Baseball Mission Statement
The Sussex Hamilton Jr. Charger Baseball organization is a High-School “FEEDER PROGRAM” that focuses on coaching, mentoring and motivating young people in the game of Baseball. The organization does this while maintaining a “SELECT LEVEL” status by offering A, B and C (if roster numbers permit) level teams, in line with the WSYBL standards. This is done through our “evaluation process” (often referred to as “Try-Outs”).
This organization’s philosophy is to provide an environment that cultivates a progression of skills and knowledge for the game. It also focuses on instilling respect for Sportsmanship, the Team and our Community. Our goal is to deliver, to the High School Baseball program, not only outstanding young baseball players but fine young athletes that will consistently represent what being a “CHARGER” is about.
